How to choose a stump grinding professional.

Stump grinding is the process of using a machine appropriately called a stump grinder to mechanically shred (mulch) the remaining tree after it have been cut down below grade 4-8″ depth.

If you have numerous stumps make sure that the operator has professional grade equipment, and not a rental machine from the rental center. These machines are usually smaller, and may not be properly maintained.

An owner/operator will usually take better care of their equipment, and you will probably save money because of more efficient operation, no added rental fees and experience with the equipment.

When choosing a stump grinding professional look for someone that has at least a year experience especially if the stumps are located in a precarious yard location.

Also inquire about the operator being insured. While its not likely that the process will damage your property it’s always good to be sure your property is covered in case of flying debris damaging your car, or breaking a window.

It’s also a good idea to call 811 to have the utility lines marked before starting your project. It’s rare, but I have cut a couple of lines myself over the last 14 years of operation.

Covid 2020 Tree Service Update.

IMAG1250Hello, and thanks for taking the time to stop by.  WoW! life has certainly changed over the last few months for the entire planet, and I hope to find you all in good health.  Covid 19 has in my opinion changed our culture indefinitely.

It has taken me a little time to get accustomed to not shaking hands with potential customers, standing at least 6 feet apart, being asked to wear a mask during consultation, but it is considered the norm for now.  We are deemed an essential business, and have been pushing forward.

Tree Removal / Tree Service Cost Estimate, and Process.

I often hear potential customer comment during the estimate phase of a project ” I’ve never had to use a Tree Service before, and have no idea how this works.”

Well, I will attempt to explain. After receiving initial contact from the potential customer I will reply by phone, email, or text their preferred form of communication to briefly discuss their Tree Service needs, next we setup a convenient time to meet to do a walk-thru.

During this walk-thru we discuss your Tree Removal, Trimming, Stump Grinding needs for a few minutes. After this meeting I will thank you for your time,take a few minutes to walk around alone to take a closer look at your project to determine the equipment needed, and the estimated time to complete your project.

After that I will email the customers quote to them usually within 24 hours.. You can expect me to take up about 10-15 minutes of your time for this process. Now that was easy wasn’t it?

Now lets move along to cost. The cost will depend upon several factors. Proximity to structures, power lines, access, and the tree size. Smaller trees, around $250-$350, medium size trees $400-$750, and larger tree $750-$1800.

Don’t let those number frighten you! The price is discounted depending upon the number of trees that you want removed, and we normally include the Stump Grinding in these prices also.

Individual Stump Grinding prices are as follows. Small stumps $75, medium $100, and large $100, and up depending upon the size. Also discounted depending upon the number or stumps being removed.

There are many reasons for tree removal, tree cutting, etc…  Spacial needs for building, disease,   and over growth.  We do a lot of removal due to the wrong species tree being planted to close to a home.  This can cause foundations damage, plumbing damage, and home damage due to storms, falling limbs, and root overgrowth.

The best time to inspect your trees if during the fall, and winter when the leaves are gone, but taking a look during the summer is also beneficial.  It’s easier to spot dead limbs, dying tree tops, etc.. during the growth season.  If you notice a tree that has dead limbs at the top keep an eye on it.
